What We Treat
We treat a wide variety of addictions and conditions.
Alcohol is NOT an Issue When:
Moderate alcohol consumption presents no problems for many people. “Moderate” means up to two drinks daily for men or one for women or older people. Each “drink” is up to 12 ounces of beer or wine cooler, 5 ounces of wine, or 1 ½ ounces (80 proof) distilled spirits.
Moderate drinking may have specific health benefits, according to the NIAAA (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism). Moderate drinkers exhibit a lower risk of death due to a specific type of heart disease than either people who drink more or those who drink no alcohol in some studies. The risk of damaging blood clots is believed to be reduced by consuming small, regular amounts of alcohol, altering blood chemistry.
Alcohol IS an Issue When:
Alcohol can become an issue if too much is consumed too often or if drinking affects other areas of your life (like work or relationships). There are many reasons why alcohol abuse occurs, but you can return to a life under your control. You can learn the skills needed to stop using alcohol to escape from life or prop you up.
You should not drink any alcohol if:
- You are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are trying to conceive
- You will be operating heavy or high speed vehicles, equipment, or machinery—including driving your car/ truck
- You are taking over-the-counter medications that list an alcohol interaction on the label
- You have any medical condition that is exacerbated by drinking
- You have ever abused alcohol in the past (i.e. you are a recovering alcoholic)
- You are under the age of 21 years
Some people do not permanently discontinue drinking, and believe they can return to moderate drinking after abusing alcohol. This unfortunately traps them back in the addiction cycle, resulting in harmful behaviors. We are here to help—in our California Alcohol rehab you can learn the reasons for living without alcohol and the skills to make it happen—forever!
What should you do if you shouldn’t drink and don’t know how to stop? Reach out for help. Our alcohol rehab program deals with alcohol dependence by addressing the whole person, not simply the physical behavior of drinking. A holistic approach involves identifying why you turn to alcohol, learning more effective problem solving, addressing emotional needs in a healthy way, learning to deal with daily life’s ups and downs including handling relationships—without substances.
